Description:
"Dangerous Work", Number 43 of an anotated limited edition of Doyle's actual diary (logs). This London edition preceeded the U.S. edition and is the First Edition. It is a fine reproduction of the two volume log he kept during his whaling voyage on the S S Hope from February 28, 1880 to August 11, 1880. Doyle was 21 at the time and these adventures stayed with him all his life. Some of his memories from the voyage were later mentioned in several Sherlock Homes stories. The two volume log is reproduced in a color facsimile and also contains a complete annotated transcript of the log. Following the transcript are the short stories influenced by his whaling adventures: "the Adventure of Black Peter", "The Captain of the Pole-Star", "Life on a Greenland Whaler", and "The Glamour of the Arctic".The condition of the diary and the slip case is Fine...as new, unopened and unread.
