Slightly later half-vellum and marbled paper over boards, smooth back, leather title label to spine, t.e.g. Vellum rubbed, especially to spine and front cover, small split to upper joint at head with a tiny split to lower joint at head but holding well, rubbed to extremities, board edges lightly bumped, light scratching to marbled paper covering boards with small amount of loss. Internally lightly browned, one or two spots of foxing, but generally quite clean and bright. Gift inscription to ffep to an Arthur Pomeroy from a Dr Steele. The attractive hand-coloured plates to rear, binding is by F. Cavenagh of Dublin (See Ramsden, page 230, though spelled differently and at a slightly different address, almost certainly the same binder). Moss II:724 (quoting a review from the Monthly Review). Small bump to head of spine, slightly rubbed to extremities, spine slightly dulled. Internally quite bright and clean. Title in red and black. Zaehnsdorf binding with their medallic gilt stamp to lower pastedown which Broomhead notes was "apparently used, along with other similar stamps, as a quality mark on the sperior bindings produced by the firm" (Broomhead, The Zaehnsdorfs, page 73). Creased from old folds, slightly roughly opened around wax seal, with remnants of paper adhering to seal and a matching missing piece to the third page where it was folded, sealed and sent, slightly browned to edges, small remnants of paper where it was once in an album, but generally clean. Subscribers copy, William Brown, who is mentioned in the list of subscribers for the next year, donating 10s 6d. Brown was earlier involved in the Suffolk Society for the Education of the Poor in the Principles of the Established Church. First Edition. Unbound. Good. Folio. Ephemera.
