Neat ex libris to front pastedown. Front free end paper has at some point been detached, and is now held in place with archival tape. 61 pages of text and then a separate plates section where all plates are protected by (some slightly darkened and some loose) tissue inserts. Clean copy of a scarce item. 290 x 225 mm (11½ x 8Âľ inches). . From the bookplate, we can see that this book belonged to Helge Loewenberg-Domp. She was a German musician and music (piano) seller of Jewish parents who escaped to the Netherlands before the war. She later went into hiding with her family, and survived the war. (Her brother died in the camps). She was one of the first to import Japanese pianos to the Netherlands. In the 1970's she was knighted to the Order of Orange-Naussau. Port Sunlight: Lever Brothers Limited, c. 1910. Loose leaf, in full colour, that appears to have formerly been tipped into another publication. Illustration of a man in a bath holding a bar of Lifebuoy soap with a box of soaps on the floor and a portrait of the Lifebuoy fisherman on the wall. Text reads "LIFEBUOY SOAP. Specially prepared for HANDS & BATH. Gives you that Healthy Feeling". Verso has the advertising text for Lifebuoy. Very good condition and still bright coloured, as it was kept enclosed in a book or magazine for most of its time. Clean and without creases etc. 160 x 115 mm (6¼ x 4½ inches). Lever Brothers and other firms often commissioned many (now important) artists to produce their advertising for them. Will Owen (1869 – 1957) was an English book illustrator, cartoonist, caricaturist and a commercial and poster artist, possibly best known for his iconic images of the Bisto Kids, Bovril, Lux and Lifebuoy.

Jean-Auguste Vyboud (1872-1944) was a painter and engraver who studied under Gustave Moreau and François Flameng. New York: Aperture Inc. , 1977. First edition, first printing. Hardback in cloth inside original unclipped dust jacket. Near fine in near fine dust jacket. 116 pages. 295 x 250 mm (11½ x 9¾ inches). In his 'Daybook' dated December 9th 1934, Edward Weston wrote: "The first nudes of C. were easily amongst the finest I have done, perhaps the finest". The C. referred to was Charis Wilson, who in this book remembers her time with Weston - as his lover, companion, assistant and muse.

London, 1910. An attractive children's game. There a blocks of wood, with 6 paintings pasted onto the six sides, when placed together they make a picture showing children playing. Held in a wooden box, which once have a clasp (now broken). There are 4 chromolithographed illustrations in the box, and a fifth is pasted onto the lid. We suspect there was a sixth, now missing. The blocks have rubbing to the corners, with slight loss of image. The lithographs are on thin paper, and has small nicks and tears to the edges, but still attractive. Darkening to the image on the front board. Overall, an attractive game, showing signs of regular use. This was clearly British, from the red post box on the image to the lid of the box. The dating is from the children's clothing, particularly the sailor suit on the cover. 150 x 190 mm (6 x 7½ inches).

Sneek: Van Druten S. Bleeker, 1853. First Dutch Edition. Original brown buckram with gilt titles and decoration to the front board and spine. (Slightly bumped and with a slight lean to the book. Owner's ink inscription to the inside front board. There is a faded library stamp and quite a few small perforated stamps throughout to the bottom edge (not affecting text). 7 lithographed plates (by Steen & P.W.M. Trap). Plates are in good condition. The pages are a little darkened to the edges, but overall a decent copy of this scarce first edition. VIII, 346, [ii] pages. 190 by 120mm (7½ by 4¾ inches).

Lucerne: Manuscript, 1885. Original manuscript poem / travelogue, recounting an excursion on the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) in 1885. Eight silver print photographs are tipped in amongst the text. Cream embossed leather binding. Gilt detail to the front board. Attractive gilt and brown end papers. Unpaginated, but 40 stanza's in a neat German hand. The leather boards are clean and tidy, with a little darkening / foxing to the skin. Contemporary brown leather Simier of Paris signed Cathedral Binding, with profuse gilt decoration and armourial crest to the boards. Gilt design, titles and windmill to the spines. This binding is identical to one part of the British Library Charles Ramsden Collection of Signed Bindings. (See BL Shelfmark c150k11) A little rubbing to the bindings, with slight loss of gilt, but overall, in excellent condition. The hinges have been professionally restored at some point, in a way that is barely noticeable. Marbled end papers. Rich with 100 images illustrating Eggleston's pilgrimage from Memphis to the small town of Plains, Georgia (home of Jimmy Carter), where in November 1976 Carter was elected 39th President of the United States.
