Hunger sold on November, 7, 1951 and November, 4, 1952. In the first sale there were offered 40 lots including 15 incunabula, many early editions of Herbolario Volgare and Hortus Sanitatis. In the second sale there were offered 430 lots including periodicals, bibliography of botany and sciences, history of botany, medicine and exact sciences, herbals and books on botany.

Before his death in 1967, the English typographic historian Stanley Morison had drafted a major work examining the history and development of early Italian writing books. It is not only the last major Morison text, but also one of fundamental importance, covering the most important period (and the most beautiful examples) in the history of calligraphy. The book examines the calligraphy of the sixteenth century from Arrighi to Ugo da Carpi, from Taglienti to Celebrino da Udine. As always with Morison, it is full of surprises, for this was Morison’s particular passion, and in the area of stylistic comparisons and close observation, Morison was an undisputed master.

The book consists of full pages color illustration (some folding) and facing pages of description. Wide range of instruments from the middle of 16th to the end of 19th century are included: astronomical, surveying, scientific, globes and clocks.

This volume contains a photoreproduction of the surviving parts of a manuscript written in Rus' ca. 1100 A.D. The main portion is in the library of the Monastery of St. Catherine at the foot of Mount Sinai, and a fragment is in the Leningrad Public Library. Any manuscript of this age is valuable for the information it provides about the language and culture of early Rus', but the significance of this combined codex is enhanced by the fact that it is the oldest representative of a special revision of the Psalter text which became standard in Rus' but not elsewhere in the world of the Orthodox Slavs. The volume also includes photoreproductions of portions of a mid-twelfth century Psalter from Rus' which is the second-oldest witness to this text.

Beautifully printed on wove paper classical and still very useful bibliography of incunabula and 16th century editions of Euclid's Elements, one of the most frequently printed book after the Bible. An overview introduction is followed by annotated lists of Greek, Greek and Latin editions of no less than first six books with demonstrations, editions in Greek and Latin of the enunciations, translations into current European languages and Arabic, fragmentary editions in various languages. The book is based on Thomas-Stanford own collection, one of the first of the kind.
