The Edinburgh Stereoscopic Atlas of Obstetrics, 4 Volumes

Simpson, G. F. Barbour and Edward Burnet (editors) with Preface By Sir J. Halliday Croom

  • Book condition: Near Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Edinburgh and London: T. C. & E. C. Jack. Photos Mounted on thick Stock. Near Fine. Approximately 1905. In 4 sections. A remarkable set of stereoscopic images designed for viewing through a stereoviewer (not provided). Each stereoscopic photograph is mounted on a thick card stock, approximately 7" x 9". At the bottom of each card is mounted the image, and above that is a description of what the viewer is seeing. Failing having an actual dissection in front of one, this is perhaps the next best thing - with a stereoviewer (not provided) the doctor could see not just a flat image, but also depth and texture. Section I contains cards 1-25, complete. Condition is near fine with minor wear. Slipcase for this section is only half there. Section II contains cards 26-50, lacking only card #31 (external genital organs of multipara at Eighth Month of Pregnancy). Slipcase very good, complete with original labels. Section III normally contains cards 51-75. It is however defective, with cards ... Read more

Cairo: Chemical Society of Egypt, 1958. First Edition. Wraps. Good. First Edition. [6], 164 pages. Original green wrappers. Small spine panel "flap" loose. Corners turned, light fading to covers. Wraps. We offer the first issue of this Journal, which was published twice a year in 1958-59, continued in 1960 as "Journal of chemistry of the U.A.R.", and quarterly from 1961-1969 as "Journal of chemistry of the United Arab Republic." It continued from 1970-71 bimonthly (every 2 months) as "United Arab Republic journal of chemistry" and finally as the "Egyptian journal of chemistry" from 1972 until the present. It is worthwhile bibliographically to note that in this first issue the terminologies are laid out for names, abbreviations, and guidelines for how to submit material. Perhaps most interesting for collectors is a note that each author is "entitled to 20 reprints, without covers, free of charge. Additional reprints may be purchased, and must be ... Read more
