The first edition of this bibliography is practically unobtainable, and the only reprint (Columbus, 1951) is so scarce as to bring several hundred dollars when it appears at auction. Field's bibliography lists 1708 books relating to American Indians, covering the colonial period in the British and French colonies. There are also numerous important listings for western and Latin Americana as well. A must for every Americana reference shelf.

Miller began to lecture in 1831 and carried on a vigorous propaganda. At the height of his popularity in 1844, he had 50,000 followers. When the last day of the predicted year passed, Miller predicted the Lord would return on October 22nd 1844. When the day came and went without a second coming, Miller and his Adventists began to disintegrate. A separate sect was formed to continue the prophecy. Shaw 40 - 4654. Sabin 49075. All editions of this work are scarce. No copies on the internet or at auction.
