In good bright green cloth boards, gilt title field and decorative border to front with green and gilt titles. The covers are a little warped rom damp, with slight discolouration from damp front and back. Slight wobble to front cover; corners a little frayed. Unmarked end papers. Dark brown tinted top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are quite clean. The tail edge is warped. The text block throughout is warped. The pages are very clean and tightly bound, with 12 beautiful tipped in colour illustrations by E.J. Detmold with tissue guards. The illustrations have not been affected from the damp/water damage. More red scribbles on two pages (reverse side of a colour plate). With six lovely colour plates and many white and white illustrations by Doreen Baxter.

The covers are clean and very tight, spine ends and corners frayed and a little bumped. "The Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative Bindery Team have re-glued split spine. Tanned rear free end paper; the front paste down is slightly tanned, with name and 'Music Prize' in pencil. The front free end paper is missing. Age-toned cut edges. The text block is tightly bound, good, a little worn, with a few marks. "The Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative Bindery Team" have made some paper repairs and replaced a portion of page 125. Lovely colour plates by Alice Ross. No frontispiece. Rare.
