Additionally the blank pages adjacent the last pages of weaving information have been inexplicably glued to the reverse. A total of 14 manuscript pages organized by year and including the article that was woven, the weave pattern including colors, the number of biers in the weave, the size of the fabric, specific weaving techniques, knots, etc. -- Any design element associated with the particular fabric. It begins in 1845 and is titled "Cotton" that continues for 6 pages. The next page is titled "SHAG". This completes the run of pages in the "front of the book". When turned upside down and opened from the back, it begins with information from 1848 - 1856 and includes the same time of information. A passionate anti-nudist monograph, stating in its introduction that "on the whole, the people who comprise a majority of the Nudist movement are nothing but sexual perverts, as it shall be proved in the following chapters ... Nudism must be stamped out now, before it takes a canker hold on us" (p. 4). The publication goes on to shame Nudism as exhibitionist, dangerous to children and families, and morally bereft. Includes a chapter titled "Absence of Beauty in Nudism", which paints a graphic picture of a naked woman, using language intended to evoke disgust in the reader for the image. Argues that Nudism is unhealthy because overexposure to sunlight can cause skin cancer. Single vol. (7.25" by 5"), pp. 32, stapled in original illustrated textured green paper wrappers. [Boston, Massachusetts]: Fairbanks & Beard, 1858. Near-fine.. Illustrated billhead for Fairbanks & Beard, dealers in "Mineral and Soda Waters, Porter, Ale, Cider, and Brown Stout". Made out in ink to a Mr. Wm. Almey for the sale of soda water, dated Feb 28th, 1858. The billhead depicts the famous Howard Athenaeum building, also known as the Old Howard Theatre, one of the most popular theaters in Boston and the site where Fairbanks & Beard operated out of. Measures approx. 4" by 7.75", verso blank but with some ink ms. notes.

New York: McLoughin Brothers, c1870. Edge wear. Missing surface litho on front cover. Tape repair on binding. Sewing repair with red string, the dye in the string has caused some minor staining. There is a small circular brown stain that continues through several pages.. 12 pp (including wrappers). The cover depicts the sleeping princess after she is cursed. Cover printed in green, red, and black ink. The title page of the book has the full title as 'Sleeping Beauty in the Woods'. The alphabet is printed on the front and back interior covers. There are six color illustrations in the book. On one illustration, the name of the engraver, Jackson, is featured. A part of the Fairy Moonbeam's Series, which are "little fairy stories that have been household joys for generations."Measures 71/2" x 5 1/4"

London, England: Darton and Co, 1840. Very good. Title-page loose, original wrappers lacking.. A scarce edition of fairy tales in verse for children with hand-stenciled illustrations, published by Darton and Co. It features adaptations of the following tales: Little Red Riding Hood; Blue Beard; Cinderella; Little Thumb and the Ogre; Puss in Boots; Whittington and His Cat; and The Chase. Among the more charming illustrations is one of a Tudor-esque Blue Beard, stenciled with an actual blue beard. 4to (8.25" by 6.5"), pp. 30, with hand-stenciled in-text illustrations. Lacking original wrappers. Four (4) copies only in OCLC (March 2022).

Paper Doll, Pretend Play, Paper Playthings, Childhood Ephemera A 10" x 6" double-fold box with center opening on reverse with embossed illustration of Little Red Riding Hood. A 9" die-cut paper doll with attached head. The costumes are designed to tuck beneath the head. There are four (4) different costumes and hats. Each piece identified on reverse gown/hat. The costumes include Little Miss Muffet, Little Bo Peep, Mother Goose and Little Red Riding Hood.

A booklet for families advertising homeopathic tablets sold by the Luyties Pharmacal Company as treatments or remedies for over forty (40) afflictions ranging from appendicitis to whooping cough. Descriptions of each affliction's symptoms and dangers are included along with which tablet to use with dosage recommendations. Pricing in rear, along with a list of each tablet's ingredients and uses. 12mo (6.75" by 4.5"), pp. 72, stapled in original orange printed textured wrappers.

Alden, NY: The Famous Original Black Water Baths, 1915. General wear. Small water stain through all pages on bottom right.. The town of Alden in New York became famous in 1891 due to the discovery of black mineral water, more often referred to as black water, a thick, rotten egg smelling water with supposed healing properties. This booklet is advertising for the "Famous Original Black Water Baths" and its opening of our their new modern bath house. This new bath house was "thoroughly equipped with every convenience for the treatment and comfort of our patients." In addition to the baths themselves it had: sun parlors, sanitary drinking foundations, heated swimming pool, billiard room, tennis courts, steam and electricity. Each of the cut paper dolls is approx. 7 1/2" tall, single sided and identified on the reverse of each doll, costume or hat. Each women has 3 costumes and headpieces or bonnets. Included in the set are Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Margherita, Queen Marie Antoinette, Queen Isabella, Queen Victoria, Queen Louise, and as stated previously Martha Washington. Cover illustrations depicts Japanese sights including Mt Fuji on the front and a teahouse scene with women preparing food with men looking-on on the reverse. The narrative discussing hand fans is written in verse. Serene border decorations. The four (4) sections are: Grace and Beauty Dignity and Calmness Home and Fan Kyoto and Fan Kyoto and Fan begins Fan-making is one of the few machineless industries thriving in Kyoto today, - in the machine age of ours No industry requires more dexterity than fan-making. Light wear.. A truly fanciful fellow with a printed face,and card stock body parts that have been decorated with applied and layered polished and foiled papers. His exaggerated hat has a large applied flower. His bodice begins with pleated paper dickey and velvet bow tie; a crest is applied beneath the dickey. His waistcoat is constructed of various foiled papers with red embellishment and embossing. His topcoat is velvet with studded border trim topped with a large red silk bow. The arms and legs are jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Measures 14 1/2

A copper engraving cut-out from the February 1872 Peterson's Magazine that has been dressed in both paper and fabric. It is captioned "Fanny's First Flirtation". Sight view 7 3/8" x 6". Housed in period frame which measures 9" x 8" When researching the image an editor's note from Peterson's reads "This charming engraving, published in our February number, receives praise everywhere. The New Jersey Enterprise says, 'What a Frenchman would call, but what some of our juvenescent Americans translate 'the piece of resistance'.

London: Riddle Book LTD, 1945. Illustrated board, pages split horizontally to create multiple images, color illustrations throughout, cover states "patent applied for No. 24053/45" and "may we divide your attention for a moment?" Humorous look at fashion, the book consists of images of dress over time and simple verses, the page is then split in two and the reader can mix and match the top and bottom of outfits with verses. 8 1/4" x 11" wear on cover, some toning.

1837. Crease marks from previous folds and a minor separation along the fold. Toning due to age.. An original poem written by Rebeckah Shearer in 1837. It is unclear if the poem is meant as a farewell for a loved one moving away or passing away. The poem is four stanzas long, the first of which is below: Farewell- but ever bear in mind the kindred heart you leave behind; It's throbbing fainies [sp? feigns] truth would tell, It almost bursts to say farewell Written on a single sheet of paper. Faribault, MN: Citizen's Committee, 1884. General wear, with minor stains.. A tourism booklet for the town of Faribault in Minnesota, which is approximately 50 miles south of Minneapolis. It is described as having a "charming combination of hill and dale, lake and river, forest and prairie, showing views of it's educational institutions, churches, business establishments and scenery." The booklet starts by giving a brief history of the town, before continuing on to describe its institutions. Faribault has a large selection of schools, such as Shattuck St. Mary's (a prestigious boarding school still in existence today), State Institution for the the Deaf and Dumb, School for Feeble-Minded Children, School for the Blind, and Seabury Divinity School. A folding accordion-style (leporello) children's book by Prang, featuring a happy host of barnyard animals including chickens, ducks, a horse, pigs, and a night-hawk. Advertises children's books and Valentines by Prang on lower wrapper. Measures 4.25" by 2.75" folded, approx. 4.25" by 31" unfolded. Twelve panels in total. Glued in original illustrated wrappers printed on coated paper.
