The red cloth boards are rubbed at the edges, corners worn to threads, some discoloration on the front surface and a soiled spot, spine is worn to threads at head/tail and darkened, one lighter spot at head, text is just readable. Foxing and tanning throughout, illustrations remain crisp, weak hinge. The illustrations are clearly inspired by Aubrey Beardsley and quite remarkable at that.

The corners are rubbed, spine edges and head/tail rubbed, some light rubbing on the raised bands. Pen name inside front cover Vol I, some foxing throughout both volumes. many engraved illustrations, a beautiful pair of books.

Paper is tanned on the interior.

Farm ledger with dates as early as 1812 and as late as 1848. 60 pages in front of book have entries and 13 pages in the rear also have entries, there are 82 unused pages between the two sections. The book is bound in worn board with worn but solid leather spine. The paper is tanned, but in excellent condition. The entries involve chopping and drawing wood, carting, repairs, wheat, groceries and entries just listed as "work." There is no definitive name of the author of this ledger. While there no known location for this book, it was in an Auburn NY collection. A wonderful piece of Americana.
