Description:
The Volland Company published books and other items for children in the years between 1908 and 1959. Their expressed purpose was that the books..."should make children happy and build characterunconsciously and should contain nothing to cause fright, suggest fear, glorify mischief, excuse malice or condone cruelty." The only writing is an inscription in pen in the front of the book; the pictures are still quite vivid and beautiful.

Ken Kesey was one of the last of the Beat Generation writers. No dust jacket, bright yellow, no marks inside (and It even has the weird feature of having a small flip book of tiny pictures in the lower right corner of the pages, some of which were attributed to poet Allen Ginsburg)
