A Mark Terry facsimile dust jacket has been added in case new owner would prefer jacketed version on shelf display.

Very Good to Near Fine book that is soft, with light wear at spine ends, slight age toning to pages except for one brighter gathering; in a Very Good, price-clipped jacket that has light edge wear and mild wrinkling, both panels have rubbing. This was Coonts second book. This copy has been signed by Coonts on the half-title page and inscribed – To Lyle Stouffer, fighter pilot, I hope you enjoy this sea story. The late Stouffer was indeed a fighter (RF-4 Phantoms) pilot who flew 130 missions in 1967 and 1968 over Southeast Asia. He was awarded two Silver Stars and The Distinguished Flying Cross.

Publisher’s lettered limited edition, Near Fine to Fine book with slight edge crease to middle of a couple pages around p. 150, tiny spot front page edges, and slight push top of spine, in a similar slipcase with slight shelf and edge wear; no dust jacket as issued. This is Hillerman’s completely out of series mystery. The story is about a man’s search for a relative, a missing grandchild,  that takes him into Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He has taken the liberty of naming the characters based upon his comrades in the 410 Infantry, C Company of WWII.
This is one of the very rare Harper lettered limited editions of which 26 were done for the last three limited titles produced by Harper (i.e., there were only 78 such lettered editions). The lettered limiteds were not for sale but were reserved for private distribution by the publisher and Hillerman. This copy originally belonged to dust jacket artist, Peter Thorpe. NO BOOK, dust jacket proofs only, Fine panels but vertical crease to booth blank flaps. There is a fold crease along spine at back pane. Very unusual and scarce proof (only a small number of these were printed) for the jacket that artist Peter Thorpe did for this non-Navajo mystery. This was the original jacket proposed for the book, and Tony commented to Peter that he liked it very much. However, management at Harper quickly rejected it, wanting a more traditional, Navajo-like drawing for front panel. A Fine proof copy of the jacket that was approved and used on the book is also included. Proof is blank on flaps and back panel, and folded at back side of spine. This proof has been signed by Peter Thorpe on the front flap in silver marker.

Numbered, limited first edition; a Fine unread book, no dust jacket as issued. This is number 101 of 200 such copies. A Frank and Irene Kelly mystery short story with music by Tim Burke. Illustrations by Phil Parks – color photo of Jan Burke and B/W sketch by Parks have tissue guards. Introduction by Michael Connelly and Afterword by Jan Burke. (as was Pelecanos) who inadvertently stumbles into being both a bartender and an amateur P.I. after being fired from his day job.
