Genius Loci and Other Tales by Clark Ashton Smith (Out of Space and Time, Lost Worlds) Hardcover First Edition/First Printing Arkham House 1948. Reportedly only about 3000 copies were printed. Fine- in Fine- Dust Jacket. An overall beautiful copy of one of Arkham House's early editions of Smith. Book itself is overall quite clean with sharp corners, only a touch of toning to the page edges due to age, the interior of the text-block is quite nice, and there is some shelf-wear to the bottom corners. The dust jacket is in superb condition, only a hint of edge-wear to the bottom spine, and a nick to the left-hand back corner, else Fine. A truly nice exceptional copy.NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The pictures are of the actual item for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)

  • Quantity available: 1
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson (first book of the Millenium Trilogy) Advance Reader's Readers Copy ARC of the original UK Edition MacLehose 2008 Translated from the Sweedish into English by Steven T. Murray as indicated on the title page. Trade Paperback format in Near Fine+ condition, with slight reading lines on the spine, and just the tiniest hint of nicking to the corners. SCARCE in any condition! Only one other copy is on the net right now, with an asking price near $2000. Priced to sell. NOTE: Of special interest: this is the only edition which indicates the true name of the translator, Steven T. Murray, on the title page of any of the Steig Larsson books in English. Because of translation disagreements with the publishers MacLehose UK and Knopf US, Murray adopted a pseudonym, Reg Keeland, as a kind of protest, which is now on all subsequent copies of the books, including all the trade first printings hardcovers and the ARC's of the final two books. This is as far as I know the ONLY editi ... Read more

Glass and Amber

C.J. Cherryh

  • Edition: First Edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Glass and Amber by C.J. Cherry Hardcover First Edition - First Printing - Numbered Trade State Nesfa 1987. 1/1000 numbered copies, #376 (the first 225 were signed and slipcased) This is one of un-slipcased copies (no. 376 of 1000), Fine in Very Good Dust Jacket, the book itself in yellow cloth is fine, however the dust jacket is not perfect. Has a long 1.5" slit to the upper left-hand front corner, and rubbing and edgewear in other places. Still very difficult to find and this example would make a perfect reading copy. Typically runs $125+ in a better dust jacket. My last copy in better dust jacket sold for $135. Nesfa Press has, since 1972, published many collections by some of the top writers of science fiction and fantasy, including Jack Vance, Roger Zelazny, David Brin, Robert Bloch, Isaac Asimov, Tanith Lee, Gene Wolfe, Tim Powers, Glen Cook and many others. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

  • Edition: first edition - first printing
  • Book condition: Very Good
  • Quantity available: 1
A good but by not perfect signed first US printing copy of the first book of His Dark Materials trilogy. The Golden Compass (a.k.a. The Northern Lights, first book of "His Dark Materials" trilogy) by Philip Pullman Hardcover First US Edition - First Printing New York: Knopf, 1996. (true first edition Scholastic Press UK, 1995). SIGNED, inscribed by Pullman "Best wishes to Brian- Philip Pullman" with Pullman's characteristic underline of his name. Because of the condition, priced at about 1/2 better copies which start at about $250+ signed, and I have seen prices for the signed set at $1000+. For the bargain-hunter collector. Priced to sell. Very Good in Very Good Dust Jacket. Sadly whoever Brian was, he didn't do a very good job of taking care of his book, and this is by no means a perfect copy. The book itself has noticeable reading wear, mostly soiling to the text block and some kind of 1/2" water stain to the upper text block near the spine, tender corners and shelf-wear to the bottom edge. There is also n ... Read more

GoneGirl

Gillian Flynn

  • Edition: First Edition-First Printing
  • Quantity available: 1
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Crown 2012. number-line down to "1" on copyright page and $25.00 cover price. Very Good+ in Fine Dust Jacket. A really nice copy of the first printing, with the following shortcomings: about 5 pages in the middle have the remnants of having been damp at some point, slightly wavy, and there's a small hint of a blemish to the bottom of the text block edge, else a really nice copy with straight corners etc. Would work perfectly as a nice first edition reading copy, hence the price. In near perfect condition, many dealers are already asking $100+ for this book in the first printing.NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The picture is the actual item for sale. (The picture is NOT a stock photo.)

  • Book condition: Fine-
  • Quantity available: 1
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (author of Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row and East of Eden) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing New York: Viking April, 1939 in a really exquisite facsimile dust jacket. 619 pages. "First Published April, 1939" on the copyright page with NO subsequent printings listed which verifies this copy is a true first printing of the first edition. Tan cloth and endpapers with music from "Battle Hymn of the Republic" which includes the line "Where the grapes of wrath are stored". Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Best Novel. Fine- in Facsimile Dust Jacket. A really nice exceptional copy in a facsimile dust jacket. NO gift inscriptions, NO writing inside. The book itself is just about fine with very clean pages only a little bit of age-toning which is common with this book, now about 80 years old. The corners are for the most part straight with just a tiny hint of tenderness. Overall a very clean and presentable first edition copy of one of the half-dozen major works of American l ... The Great Gatsby

F. Scott Fitzgerald

  • Edition: First Facsimile Edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Hardcover Facsimile of the First Edition Charles Scribner's Sons (a.k.a. Scribners) 1925 First Edition Library circa 1985. Fine in Fine Dust Jacket in Fine- Slipcase with just a hint of dustiness. Includes an information sheet concerning the publication history of Gatsby. A beautiful presentation of the first edition in facsimile. Just a hint of edge-wear to the top edge of the dust jacket, else a near perfect copy. The Great Gatsby is regarded as possibly the best American novel of the 20th century or at least in the top 5 along with Ernest Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises". As detailed in the insert, the book was a commercial failure, probably because of its stark criticism of the 1920's party culture of the time. It has since become regarded as a classic and a masterpiece of literature. First edition copies in nearly-complete dust jacket are typically priced at $200,000+. This is a wonderful alternative, a much more economic means of experiencing what the first editio ... Read more

Guardian Vol. II. (Volume 2) Seventh Edition J. and R. Tonson 1740. Small octavo 7.5" x 4" Title page, Dedication, 358 pages, Index, then other books by Tonson. Very good to near fine pages in a fine- binding rebacked to style. Some age toning to the pages, but appears to have no tears. A great little 18th century book! The Guardian similar to its siblings The Tatler and The Spectator was a short-lived newspaper published in London from 12 March to 1 October 1713 and appeared in book form shortly thereafter. It was founded by Richard Steele and featured contributions from Joseph Addison, Thomas Tickell, Alexander Pope and Ambrose Philips. Steele and Addison had previously collaborated on the Tatler and The Spectator (not related to the present-day Spectator or Tatler). The Tatler, Spectator and Guardian are anthologies of miscellaneous anecdotes, stories and reviews concerning early 18th century London. Gun, with Occasional Music

Jonathan Lethem

  • Edition: First Edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Gun, with Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Harcourt Brace 1994. author's first book. Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket with a price-clip. NOTE: The jacket is largely fine! The dust jacket art shows what appears to be a crinkling dust jacket, like you might find for hardboiled novels of the 1940's and 1950's. This is just for artistic-aesthetic visuals. The dust jacket itself does not have the wear-and-tear which is shown in the image. Gun, with Occasional Music is a 1994 novel which blends science fiction and hardboiled detective fiction. It was nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1994. The novel follows the adventures of Conrad Metcalf, a tough guy private detective and a wiseass, through a futuristic version of San Francisco and Oakland, California. Metcalf is hired by a man who claims that he's being framed for the murder of a prominent urologist. Metcalf quickly discovers that nobody wants the case solved: not the victim's ex-wife, not the police, and certa ... Read more

Facsimile of the Mazarin 42-Line Bible aka The Gutenberg Bible. Would make an incredible gift for either a devout Christian of any denomination, a history buff, bibliophile, or scholar and/or instructor. Will ship media mail, otherwise if needed for a gift, ship by priority mail (second shipping option). The Gutenberg Bible Old and New Testament Latin Illustrated Manuscript 15th Century. Facsimile. Includes Old and New Testaments. As NEW in shrink-wrap. An astronomically more economic means to acquiring a Gutenberg Bible, considering an authentic original would probably be appraised at $50 to $100 million. While this is not quite the size of the original lectern version of the Gutenberg Bible which can measure a whopping 17.5" x 12", but rather, an affordable copy of the original in a desk-reference or bookshelf-refere ...
