A VERY GOOD copy of this scarce catalog of paintings by Karl Stojka. Stojka, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps, was born in 1931 to a Roma Catholic gypsy family of the Lowara Roma tribe in Austria. Stojka began painting after the war. This catalog was sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministery (sic) of Foreign Affairs and presents 92 full-page color reproductions, captioned in German and English by the artist. A clean, well-bound copy. Bound in color pictorial stiff paper wrapper. Bottom corners rubbed with short creases to front bottom corner of wrapper and first few text pages. Boston: Nicnols and Noyes, 1869. 1869. GOOD+. Internally very good, complete with 2 tissue-protected engraved portraits (Joseph Allen and Ellis Allen). Pages are clean and unmarked, bound in cloth hardcover. The cloth is faded and lightly worn (original color may have been blue). Gilt titling on spine is faded by readable. There is tearing to the cloth along front hinge and the inside front hinge has broken - it has been repaired with hinge tape applied to the pale yellow endpapers. Not ideal, but effective. The genealogy begins with "James I" - James Allen who, with his wife Anna, came over in 1639 and settled in Dedham. COMPLETE with 11 folded plates in pocket attached to rear wrapper. These include foldout geologic color maps of the Gallup-Zuni Basin, the Gallup Coal District, McKinley County, New Mexico and a map showing coal in the Zuni Indian Reservation. All foldouts are in fine, unblemished condition. The envelope that encloses them has torn on one side and the back of the wrapper has separated from the front (a clean tear down the center of the spine) likely due to the weight of the foldouts. However, pages remain securely bound to the front cover and are in near fine condition. The gray wrapper, titled in black on front has minor edge wear with small chips and tears. Other than the separation along the spine, this would be a Near FIne copy, 5-3/4 x 9"; 53 text pages plus foldouts. Wrapper. Very Good.
