Signed and inscribed by the author on the second front free endpaper: "To William Kelly with much gratitude from the Author, Charles Murray." Somewhat contradictory to the inscription, Murray's engraved bookplate is on the verso of the second front free endpaper. A poem by Murray, "Compensation," excised from The Outlook No. 22, 1902, has been tipped-in at the back endpaper and is additionally signed. VERY GOOD. Shows marginal shelf rubbing of the extremities, spine lightly toned, endpapers toned, slightly over-opened at the front endpaper, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. As pictured.

The set is in VERY GOOD condition showing only marginal shelf rubbing of the extremities, spines lightly tanned and rubbed, the front endpapers up to the title pages of some volumes are lightly foxed, otherwise the bindings are strong and tight, the text-blocks remain bright and exceptionally unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct.
