Schroeder served with Commodore John Rodgers on the 1871 Korean expedition, commanded the battleship Virginia, and later Louisiana during the world cruise of the Great White Fleet. He commanded the Atlantic Fleet from 1906 until his retirement in 1911.

William Faulkner (1897-1962) was a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recognized for A Fable in 1955 and The Reivers in 1963. The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, and Light in August were recognized by The Modern Library on their 1998 list of 100 Best English-language Novels of the 20th Century. Faulkner primarily set his stories in the American South, many of which took place in the fictional Yoknapatawpha County.

The letter states: "Dear Mr. Daniels, Enclosed is a different picture - the biog is ok except I was a "sports announcer" not writer. Galley proofs will not be needed but I'll appreciate a few copies for my own use. The govt. research figures on page 16 in my hand are correct as you have deciphered them. Clinton to Walter Kaye, a retired insurance executive and close friend of Hillary Clinton. Mr. Kaye advised the Clintons on their personal insurance liability as it related to the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit. At the same time, Mr. Kaye recommended Monica Lewinsky for a White House internship, through his relationship with her mother, Marcia Lewis. The document is framed. The note is written on White House stationery and dated June 12, 1995, one month before Monica Lewinsky began her White House internship. The signed letter offers birthday wishes to Walter Kaye, with a personalized note below, thanking him "for being such a good friend." Even through all the turmoil of the Monica Lewinsky affair and subsequent impeachment, President Clinton remained close with Mr. Kaye after his presidency.

The letter is dated January 4th, 1882, days before his conviction and sentencing.. The letter is written on a postal card, measures 3" x 5.25". Housed in custom blue cloth folder, title in gilt on cover over red morocco label. Encapsulated in archival sleeve. The letter reads as follows: "Jan 4, 1882 / 4PM / Mr. Scoville, Please come see me at once about my meals. There is far more danger of my being poisoned from jail food than other wise...C.G." The letter is addressed to "Attn. Scoville / Tremont House / Washington D.C. / C.J. Guiteau / January 4/82." Presidential assassin Charles Guiteau had good reason to fear being poisoned while in jail. Three months prior to this letter, a prison guard named William Mason fired at Guiteau, but missed.
