A carefully-arranged vernacular book (1950s?), where the unknown owner copies by hand large sections of What Tree is That? (1927) by E.G. Cheyney (Professor of Forestry at the University of Minnesota from 1905-1947) and Royal Dixon and Frank FitchÂ’s The Human Side of Trees (1917). Also included is a section of the James Russell Lowell poem, “Under the Willows” (“I care not how men trace their ancestry, / To ape or Adam; let them please their whim; / But I in June am midway to believe / A tree among my fair progenitors”). 4” x 7”, ring bound, thick paper-backed covers that are worn and stained. Internally clean, with first page attached to only one ring. The First Munchkin Convention was held at the Malvern, PA, farm (with its own private menagerie) of Fox and the Hound author and noted Oz collector Daniel Mannix, who was the co-founder of the Wizard of Oz ClubÂ’s First Munchkin Convention.
