Maxwell's (1852-1902) funeral. Henry W. Maxwell was raised in Brooklyn, New York, he was a successful businessman, a partner in the Maxwell and Graves Bank and as a director of several other corporations, including the Brooklyn Trust Company. He was also a philanthropist, donating to many educational causes, including the Long Island College Hospital and the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Science. He also served on the Brooklyn Board of Education and as Brooklyn's Parks Commissioner in 1884. Some estimates claim that he donated over $300,000 a year during his life. A memorial plaque is in the Brooklyn Museum.
