Various.. 8vo, red cloth with gilt lettering on front and spine, top edge gilt, deckled edges, 502 pages, 44 b/w illustrated plates, index, list of "Works by the Brontës." Condition is VERY GOOD / no jacket: slight rubbing to spine extremities, a slightly toned spine, owner bookplate of Edith Scoville ["Be of Good Cheer"], some light foxing stains to deckled edges with very light scattered foxing on some pages (it is minor, a bit more foxing is on the title and dedication page), illustrations are clean. This is a lovely book, one of the earlier biographies. Chadwick lived in the Haworth area for a few years; she also wrote a book on Elizabeth Gaskell. "A few years after Esther Alice Chadwick (fl. 1882-1928) - who wrote under the name Mrs Ellis H. Condition is NEAR FINE: slight bumping to spine head and tail and corners, otherwise this little book is like new - somebody took very good care! It is Well; or, Faith's Estimate of Afflictions seems to be a companion piece to Bedell's work "Is It Well? or, Three serious and interesting Questions to Wives and Mothers" also first published in 1832-3.
