Curtis Gallery in McCloud, California. Edward Curtis (1868-1952) was an acclaimed photographer and ethnologist who undertook one of the most ambitious anthropological projects ever attempted. Pamphlet has some corner and edge loss, not affecting the text, and soiling and old dampstains. Uneven pages. This speech is one of Douglass's most famous, in support of the recent Dred Scott Decision. Douglass later said that a popular majority should be able to overturn the decision, causing rifts over slavery in his Democratic party. Douglass discusses the issue of slavery and statehood in Kansas and the problem of autonomy of Brigham Young's Utah. Front wrap is detached and the text block is also detached but all content is present. Wraps have moderate soiling and chipping and text block has light soiling. This is a promotional for the city of Kelowna located in the famed Okanagan Valley. Images depict impressive quantities of the Jonathan apple grown in Kelowna along with other crops and town scenes. Also included are two fold-out b&w photos depicting "Regatta Day" and a birdseye view of Kelowna; the illustrations each measure about 26 inches long when unfolded. Very Good. Six real photo postcards depicting Ken Maynard, the American motion picture actor and stuntman. RPPCs published around 1910-1918. RPPCs measure 5 ½" x 3 ½", have divided backs and are printed on AZO paper. All RPPCs are in very good condition with light wear to edges and moderate soiling. RPPCs have descriptions written in manuscript in the margins: "Taken about 1911, Ken Maynard," "K. M. In fur chaps," "K. M. On horse background - another loop," "K. M. Back, bear had thrown off my rope," "Colorado Cotton on horse - Mike Brahm right," and "K. M. Tompkinsville, Ky." Images depict Maynard lassoing an unhappy-looking bear, and sitting or standing atop horses. .

Tate, on front endpaper. Tate was a newspaper publisher in Berwick and Wilkes-Barre, PA. Boards have heavy wear and moderate soiling; head of spine has moderate chipping; text block has moderate foxing throughout. Amos Kendall was Postmaster General under Andrew Jackson from 1835 to 1840, and wrote one of the first biographies on Jackson. He published "Kendall's Expositor" biweekly from 1841-1844 which was pro-democrat and anti-Whig. Although Volume I of Kendall's Expositor is common, Volume II which was published in 1842 is quite rare. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 475 pp .

Very Good. Leaf from a magazine depicting Swinnterton's "Canyon Kiddies." Leaf is likely from a copy of Good Housekeeping, where "Canyon Kiddies" was published from 1922-1941. Cartoon is copyrighted to 1926 underneath panels. Leaf measures 8 ¼" x 11 ½"; another color illustration on verso (artist unknown). Leaf had minor tears near left edge, where once bound in, and light soiling and edges; colors are still bright. These illustrations depict caricature Native American children, one howling at the moon, another protecting a lamb from becoming stew, and the difficulties of avoiding a dance. ; Color Illustrations .
