Pamphlet has some corner and edge loss, not affecting the text, and soiling and old dampstains. Uneven pages. This speech is one of Douglass's most famous, in support of the recent Dred Scott Decision. Douglass later said that a popular majority should be able to overturn the decision, causing rifts over slavery in his Democratic party. RPPCs measure 5 ½" x 3 ½", have divided backs and are printed on AZO paper. All RPPCs are in very good condition with light wear to edges and moderate soiling. RPPCs have descriptions written in manuscript in the margins: "Taken about 1911, Ken Maynard," "K. M. In fur chaps," "K. M. On horse background - another loop," "K. M. Boards have heavy wear and moderate soiling; head of spine has moderate chipping; text block has moderate foxing throughout. Amos Kendall was Postmaster General under Andrew Jackson from 1835 to 1840, and wrote one of the first biographies on Jackson. He published "Kendall's Expositor" biweekly from 1841-1844 which was pro-democrat and anti-Whig.
