London: Ellipsis, 1997. First printing. 249 pp., 7 x 8.25 inches. Sewn signatures glued into printed card covers. Bottom edge soiled and corners worn; one page corner creased; still a very good used copy of an uncommon book. “The K Foundation was a project conceived in 1993 to represent the artists Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond. . . . On 22 August 1994, Cauty and Drummond travelled to the island of Jura off the west coast of Scotland with a suitcase containing £1 million in new £50 notes. . . . In the early hours of 23 August, in a derelict boat house on the coast of Jura, Cauty and Drummond began to burn the money. Gimpo was handed a Hi-8 video camera and asked to film the event. The £1 million took 55 minutes to burn and the ashes were swept up and returned to the suitcase. The book includes more than 100 stills from the film,… Read more

New York: Random House, 1936. First printing. (111) pp., 9.75 x 12.25 inches. Quarter-cloth and paper over boards. First edition. Even toning to pages, light foxing to gutters and edges of pastedowns (and hinges of cloth spine), shelf wear to bottom edges of boards, still very good in a very good, lightly soiled jacket with small chips and closed tears to edges. Words and music to eleven songs by the songwriting team of Kalmar and Ruby, who wrote for such stage and screen icons as the Marx Brothers and Eddie Cantor, and who were the subject of the 1950 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical Three Little Words, starring Fred Astaire and Red Skelton. Two of the songs included (“Captain Spalding” and “The Musketeers”) appeared in the stage and film versions of the Marx Brothers film Animal Crackers. Introducing and commenting on the songs are “reasonably accurate dissertations” by Ben Hecht, Groucho Marx, Robert Benchley, Irving Berlin, Moss Hart, Frankiln P. Adams, Marc Connelly, Nunnally Johnson, and… Read more

Description:
Berlin: Martin Schmitz Verlag, 2002. First printing. 126 pp., 8vo. Bilingual text in German and English, with a biography and list of works. Illustrated in full color throughout. Light scuffing to covers, otherwise fine in glossy printed paper over boards. Kruse, whose work moves between painting, objects, installations, music, and performance, was a member of the Berlin-based multimedia, music, and performance group The Deadly Doris, perhaps best known outside Europe through their collaborations with Nan Goldin, who photographed them in Berlin and New York. This monograph surveys the full range of Kruse's work in the fifteen years following the official breakup of the group in 1987. Warmly inscribed by the artist in Berlin in the year after publication.
