Description:
London: Faber and Faber Limited, 1944. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. [26] p. : ill. (some col.) ; 19 x 25 cm. Landscape royal 8vo. Original maroon cloth backed pictorial boards. Color pictorial endpapers with alternating black and white and color lithograph illustrations. Tape reinforced at both interior hinges and in between a couple pages with what looks to be archival paper tape. Prior owners dedication in v. small fine hand "To George from father 12 July 1944". World War II wasn't over yet, D-Day was a month before but Paris wasn't liberated until August. Very likely a birthday present for George and it's a good bet that he treasured it; somebody took good care of it. Text block unmarked. Colors on cover bright and fresh. Scarce Marion Rivers-Moore title. Lacking the supa-rare dust jacket but a remarkably good copy for a title that is usually found (when you can find it at all) in tatters. Worldcat shows only 5 institutional holdings with just one of those in the United States.

K├Âln, Germany: J.P. Bachem, 1996. Aufl edition (1996). Hardcover. Very Good+/None Issued. 96 pp. Chiefly illustrations. 29 cm. Tall 4to. Hardcover. Photo illustrated boards. In 1970 the prolific German photographer Chargesheimer published the book "K├Âln 5uhr30". "Chargesheimer's K├Âln 5 Uhr 30 marks a crucial turning point in the history of European photobooks. Fascinated by the look of early morning, deserted streets, Chargesheimer here portrays his native Cologne in folio photogravure plates that convey a "vaguely sinister atmosphere... Chargesheimer created a rigorous formal framework for this book, determined by the steep perspective generated by the wide- angle lens and the fact that every image is vertical" (Parr & Badger I:223) Twenty five years later Wolfgang Vollmer retraced the now deceased Chargesheimer's steps and produced this book; K├Âln 1970-1995, 37 pairs of full page b&w plates . Chargeshiemer's 1970 photograph verso, Vollmer's 1995 photograph recto (same lensing, camera position,… Read more

Description:
Munich: Droemersche Verlagsanstalt th. Knaur Nachf, 1969. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good +/Good +. 360pp. 8to. (23cm). Oatmeal coloured cloth over boards, olive green lettering. (Beautiful book btw). We acquired this book because the dust jacket (good+ condition: bit tattered at the edges) has a kind of demented Semitic looking(not in a good way) Christmas elf hovering on the top left corner of the jacket and that elf is holding some 1x2's in a way that suggests violence. There's also a pretty complicated book-binding project featured on the same front panel and that demented-elf-book-binding-project combination was way too much to resist. A collector of striking graphic dust jackets from Germany would do well to consider this offering. A closer look at the contents of the book reveal that , if all civilization were to be destroyed tomorrow, with this one volume one would have the clear - illustrated - explained-in-German step by steps to make just about anything worth making. So you survivalists… Read more
