On Index page in small purple print  "122290 Dec 1925" and manuscript name that looks like Mrs. N.J. Kent. 174 pages text and music. This is one of the great rarities. According to WorldCat only one copy is held in libraries around the world; held United Library, Evanton, Illinois. Author Mrs  in 1878 by Fairbanks & Co. Madison St. Chicago. I believe the author's full name was Virginia Josephine Carter Kent. The book is in excellent condition; apart from the extremely neat annotaions I have listed, the books and feels new after one hundred plus years. Burgundy boards with still-bright gilt.

Remarkable survivors: these two volumes in about AS NEW CONDITION. They are in this exceptional state because they were rebound by a library in hard red library binding with brilliant white titling etc on spine. The binding has inluded brilliant white end pages plus the pasted in "lending record' which shows the books were never borrowd, then the title page with small library stamp and manuscript call number and the same repeated on the dedication page. Book one has a fold out map of the western front that is in perfect mint condition and page after page of the unit badges of British units in which staff served,, Canadian Corps badges and even badges of US units in which staff served. Another book that fully meets the criterion for RARE. None offered on the Net in the last ten years. Worldcat shows ony three lbraries in the world holding a copy: UK. USA (Colorado) and Australia. None on Canad and none in Indian libraries although I do not know how thorough Worlfcad is in searching libraries in India. 103 pages Lots of photographs. The book is about the mission to the ladies on India, and in particulare the medical work done by the mission. Nice old photos 19th century India and interesting look at the plight of the poorer class in India.

Would it were the 1718 original, but it ain't. It is a facsimile of the 1718 publication, prelims plus 220 pages Book is like new in fawn-colored cloth, but on the top edges are a few coffee spots. I show the scan. They are not on the pages.
The sheer arrogance of the English kings and queens never ceases to amaze me. Charles 1 granted Lord Baltimore, an Irish peer a vast stretch of country owned by and occupied by a race of people foreign to him. And had the territory named after his queen. Nevertheless, this book is seldom offered for sale. It must exist in quantity, but I suppose nobody wants to sell their copy.
