There are smudges, scuff marks, and sticker residue on both front and back covers. The title and author on paper label on the spine. Label is frayed but still readable. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good condition. The pages are clean and bright. Aside from the writing on half title page, there is no other writing, markings, or foxing detected in the book. Rear endpapers uncut. Frontis opposite title page is a photograph of the author.

The title, illustrator name, and a nature illustration are in bright gold on the front cover. The spine is sunned but title and author still readable. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good condition. The pages are clean and bright, there is no writing, markings, or foxing detected - but there is a small tear on the first page of text. The book includes 11 color plates by the illustrator Maud U. Clarke (all present).
