With all 12 color fashion plates present, though one has loss to the top corner affecting just the edge of the plate and another is starting to separate ate one of the folds. Another leaf (a black and white plate) has had the bottom corner torn off, affecting the plate. Finally the Frontispiece ("Gabriel Wilkie's Return) has a 3" closed tear. An interesting contrast between the fashion plates "Les Modes Parisiennes" and the printed music throughout which reference the ongoing war time and again. Half leather, with the beginnings of separation at the top of the rear joint. Very Good binding.

Attractive signed copy of Dodge's last book, with a anagram in her hanwdriting "written for the purchaser of this book, April 27, 1895" tipped in. The anagram also is signed. While Dodge notes that it is "too simple and anagram to require an answer here", it took our shop staff some little while to figure it out. However, we are not regular readers of St. Nicholas Magazine, which Dodge edited and which was full of anagrams. A charming item. Very Good binding.
