Claude Buffier (1661-1737) was a Jesuit priest who was born in Poland of French parents. Returning to France shortly after his birth, he was educated in Rouen but spent his life at the Jesuit college in Paris. He was a philosopher, historian and educator. Encyclopaedia Britannica. A lovely small map of Europe with good hand-coloring.

A collection of illustrations of hair styles from the French monthly publication, La Coiffure Parisienne Illustree, gathered and bound. Printed in sepia on one side only of thick glazed paper, the plates represent 48 different historic hair styles published in the magazine from April 1905 through April 1908, some months have multiple plates. An interesting look at the historic hair fashions of royalty, actresses, and society figures. Bound by the collector and labeled on the spine with a hand-written paper label.

Rome: Bartolomeo Zanetti, 1607. Ephemera no binding. Very good +. Camillo CINGIO. [PRINT]. A copper-plate engraving from the book, Considerationi sopra tuta la vita di N.S. Giesu Chriso, [Considerations on the Whole Life of Our Savior Jesus Christ], authored by Bartolomeo RICCI, and published by Bartolomeo Zanetti in Rome, 1607. Double matted print, outside mat dimensions: 13" x 10"; mat opening: 6 5/16" x 4 3/16"; leaf (sheet) size: 7 3/8" x 5". Plate line visible. Bartolomeo Ricci (1542-1613) was an Italian Jesuit priest, and author of many devotional books as well as an interpreter of the Gospels. This print from his book on the life of Jesus Christ was meant to convey the entirety of Christ's crucifixion in picture-form. Descriptive text is found on the verso of the engraving. The print has been matted in such a way that both sides of the leaf are visible. Archivally double-matted with a hand-applied gilt border.
