Military Uprising in Puerto Rico
8vo; 86 p, 1 h; contemporary calf.
Andrés García Camba y de las Heras (Monforte de Lemos, Lugo, 1793 - Madrid, 1861) was a Spanish soldier, politician and writer, a native of Galicia. The memoirs that he wrote about his performance in the war of the Independence of Peru have been a source widely used by historians. On October 17, 1854, he was appointed Captain General of Puerto Rico and took office on January 31, 1855, a position from which he was removed a few months later, after an uprising by the military in San Juan de Puerto Rico. In this rare pamphlet he recounts that episode.
