A very good copy in dark brown 17th-century calf (tooling on the binding appears to be English, expertly rebacked in dark brown calf with new endpapers. The boards were rubbed (pre-rebacking), the title leaf has been trimmed and re-inserted on a stub, several leaves have paper restorations to margins, a number of leaves have browning, foxing, wear, and smudges to margins. PROVENANCE: Two ownership inscriptions on inserted leaf at rear by Thomas Camplin ('his book'), 1662 and 1697, with his faded signature and inscription to title page as well. That inserted leaf (a partial printed leaf from an older book, and an additional inserted blank at rear carry several period Latin inscriptions and notes. Description: 1276 pages. Other Titles: Philosophi Rhetoris.
