Manfred Schwartz (1909 Lodz – 1970 NY): a Polish-born American abstract painter, lithographer and an art dealer. Educated at the Sorbonne, the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, the Art Students League of New York, and the National Academy of Design in New York, where he studied with Charles Hawthorne, John Sloan, and George Bridgman. Pershing (1860-1948) was Commander-in-Chief of the American Expeditionary Forces in W.W.I and this book offers his firsthand experience of the German spring offensive of 1918. Winner of the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for History. Pershing is remembered as a brilliant commander and strategist of the First World War. He would serve the U.S. Government after the war as a military advisor, and his work helped to create the U.S. Army of the twentieth century.
