"Mesolithic Horizons marks the publication of the proceedings of the seventh international conference on 'The Mesolithic in Europe' (Belfast 2005). The numbers attending these five-yearly conferences continue to grow - testimony to the growing interest in a period that less than fifty years ago was seen by many as either a 'hiatus' between two more interesting periods, or as a poorly understood phase of little consequence. This is an enormous compendium of research published in two volumes with over 140 papers drawn from the whole of Europe, ranging from the European Arctic to many parts of the Mediterranean, and from the British Isles… Read More

Dust Jacket: Barely visible horizontal crease top of front panel and small dent and horizontal line on rear panel (photos)

Book: As new condition with no marks, blemishes, or entires. Gilt lettering on the spine is bright and clear.

The book includes a Prefix, Table of Contents, six Chapters and Conclusion, a Bibliography, and a five-page Index in typical Oxford University detail and content.

These two legends provide excellent windows through which to view British culture, because they offer very different perspectives. King Arthur and Robin Hood have traditionally been diametrically opposed in terms of their ideological orientation. The former is a king, a man at the pinnacle of the social and political hierarchy, whereas the latter is an outlaw, and is therefore completely outside conventional hierarchical structures.
