With several black and white photographic plates. Original paper wraps bound in. The Macchi M.9 was a flying boat bomber produced in Italy close to the end of World War I, and shortly afterwards. It was a conventional design for its day, with unstaggered biplane wings of unequal span and a single engine mounted pusher-fashion on struts in the interplane gap, close to the underside of the top wing. The pilot and observer sat side-by-side in an open cockpit. While earlier Macchi flying boats had conventional interplane struts, the M.9 introduced the Warren truss-style struts that would become characteristic of this manufacturer's designs. In a burgundy cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine and front board. Externally, a trifle rubbed. There is some bumping to the top and tail of the spine. Corners are also bumped. Joints are tender. Both hinges are weak. Internally, binding is loosening in places. Pages are generally bright and clean. There is an ink marking to the title-page. Good Only

This is the first English translation of this work. Translated by Edward Dacres, a prominent translator of Machiavelli's works. Collated, complete. A very scarce copy of this work. Would make a good copy once rebound, rarely seen at all and usually in very poor state. Discourses on Livy is a philosophical political history. It was written in the early 16th century and was first published posthumously in 1531.
