Kaufman TX: Kaufman Grade School, 1976. First Thus. Soft cover. Very Good. Quarto size stapled 1976 booklet featuring the Kaufman, Texas, Elementary School "Bobcats" Mini Pee Wee Football Team. 14 sheets, printed on one side. One page gives names of the Parents Teachers Club, another of the roster of the "Bobcats" and their coaches, also a page for the Midget Football Team. Then there are the lists of "Bobcat Boosters" and Cheerleaders, and two pages of simply illustrated sponsors. And, laid in is a silk or silk-like purple ribbon with "Go Bobcats" in gilt with the gilt head of a bobcat. Very good condition, but on the inside of the front cover and the first page the shadow of the ribbon is "burned" on to the paper. Kaufman is the county seat of Kaufman County in NE Texas.

Following dates with one of the leads: Feb. 20, 1969 ("Card Shark Novis, everything but Crown failed to convince judge."); March 20, 1969 ("Welcome From Lillooetans to Brotherhood Indians For Better Future") - has photo of smiling Ma on front page; June 18, 1970 ("Sprinkling Hours Change - Now 6 P. M. To Midnight Alternate Days")'; Juily 16, 1970 ("Cayoosh Bridge Approach Claims First Victim This Year"). Also in this issue front page L. K. "Rocky" Sorensen running for parliament from Coast - Chilcotin. Very good condition, folded twice. Ma Murrey's masthead read, "Circulation This Week #### And Every Bloody One Paid For." Your bookseller had the pleasure of meeting Ma in the spring of 1969 when he lived in BC.

Gordon Cumming from "Frau von Stael - Ihre Freunds und ehre Bedeutung in Pokitik und Literature". Three volumes in half red leather & pink marbled boards. Matching marbled endpapers. 464pp, 546pp, 609pp. Frontispiece: Madame de Stael. Gilt trimmed along the leather sections. Spines elegantly gilded with decorative devices & title/author. Gilt letter "N" on lower spines, and gilt bees on top & bottom of spines. The latter are, of course, emblematic of the empires of Napoleon I & Napoleon III. De Stael, born Anne Louise Germaine Necker. Historical information has her banned from France by Napoleon I. Her writings & novels further infuriated him. A "sketch" of Major Drumm, the first president of the Cherokee Strip Live Stock Association, a true cattle country pioneer in Oklahoma & Kansas, & founder of the Drumm Institute for boys near Kansas City. A short book, but with good, vivid information on the cattle days in the Cherokee Strip. Slight 3/8" tear, now carefully closed, to top of front cover next to spine, else fine & probably unread. Very scarce. Herd 1378.

NY: Falk, 1890. Soft cover. Collectible Very Good. Original cabinet card photograph of Walter Quinton Gresham, born 1832. Gresham was elected to the Indiana Legislature in 1860, served in the Civil War (Vicksburg, Atlanta Campaign, was defeated twice of HR & once for Senate. In 1883 Pres. Arthur appointed him Postmaster General, then Sect'y of the Treasury, and then a U. S. Circuit Judge. Under Pres. Cleveland he became Sect'y of State. Dying in 1895, he is interred at Arlington Nat'l Cemetery. Card is 4 1/4" x 6 1/2", lightly soiled and which the name Benjamin Harrison written in ink on the back. The studio was Falk, 949 Broadway, N.Y.

Royal 8vo gilt-stamped leather with seal of the Territory of Oklahoma in gilt on front cover. 116pp. (14pp Introduction, & then portraits). Alphabetical Index. Signature (twice) of James Hastings, an Oklahoma pioneer. Portraits of federal officials, territorial officials, county & city officials, & representatives of about all the professions as well as some miscellaneous folk. They're all men. Some famous portraits: David L. Payne, Temple Huston (sic), Horace Speed, & others. Condition: Back hinge broken in front of rear free e.p. Previous owner used library tape to hold the front hinge. The leather at top of spine is broken off 1"; water damage to top 1" - 2" of rear cover, with loss of about one square inch of the leather exposing the board underneath, otherwise that area unsightly. Thus a copy that could be left as is, or nicely rebound. A rare volume in any condition. Rader 3137.
