In Amsterdam, four people are butchered in a canal house, their remains arranged around the crucified form of their patriarch, De Jaager: fixer, go-between, and confidante of the assassin named Louis. The men responsible for the murders are Serbian war criminals. They beleive they can escape retribution by retreating to their homeland. They are wrong. The book is in very good condition (black cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with light rubbing and creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. The dust jacket, which is not price clipped, is in good+ condition with creasing (and some light rubbing) to the top of the front and back covers, inner flaps and top and bottom of the spine, with rubbing to the corners of both covers.

New Theatre souvenir programme of the play by Andre Obey performed in 1935, starring John Gielgud in the title role and featuring Alec Guiness as the Wolf, Marius Goring as Japheth, Harry Andrews as the Lion and Jessica Tandy as Ada. Very good condition considering it is 85 years old with light age-related staining on a couple of pages and corner folding creases. Internally the pages are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions, although the staples have rusted. Includes advertisements and scenes from the play. Signed by Gielgud on the front cover.
