The translator takes time to mention an error overlooked by the licenser, Edmund Bohun. There was no love lost between these two men. Minor foxing and spotting, mostly to outer margins. Tiny pinhole at top and bottom, outer margin, no affect at all. A very nice item and very rare. Suitable for framing. Engraving states this drawing was made on the spot in Spetember of 1802 (only 2 months before Samuel Mathews death). As the population at the time was 1500 and Peterbroough saw its first outbreak of plague in 1574 this is very possible as he lived to be 98 years old. Comes with backing board and mylar. James CaulfieldÕs famous [or perhaps, infamous] collection of portraits and accounts of notable rogues, criminals, freaks, and other curious characters.
