First edition, thus, of this exceedingly scarce printer’s proof for one of the last shows of the Great Roman Hippodrome performed in New York before it moved to Boston for it’s run there. First edition of this lavish maritime magazine issued during World War II, including not only a number of articles on the latest sailing and motor craft, but also touching on the building of PT Boats, serving on the dangerous Atlantic Convoys shipping supplies to Allies in Europe, and more. Of particular interest is the article by Vera Amrein on sailing, and her experiences with building the craft with friends, exclaiming how they were watched agape on City Island as they as “Women Shipbuilders” ripped apart and remodeled their sailboat to suit their needs.

One large 6-panel dissected colour linen-backed map, featuring one hemisphere map of Pacific Ocean 34 inches in diameter, within larger 40 x 52 in. colour-printed wall map, with scale at Equator of 1:23,300,000, folding down to 19.5 x 17.25, brass grommets mounted for hanging at upper fore-edge (minor edgewear, rubbing at crease folds, minor age toning, light fraying to the linen), still VG copy. Second printing of this scarce linen-backed dissected wall map reflecting the extent of Imperialist Colonial spheres of influence in the Pacific just 10 years before the outbreak of World War II. These educational maps served as key instructional tools for detailing Japanese, British, Dutch, French, Portuguese, and U.S. colonies, dependencies, and mandated territories demarcated here in respective colours, spanning from Asia to the Americas, and include British holdings in Antarctica. First edition of this uncommon original showroom catalogue for Packard 12 and Packard Super 8 when Packard was still the premier luxury automobiles. The 1938 Super 8 was the larger of the company’s 8 cylinder models, and was the 2nd year of the Sixteenth Series Super 8, who after the Series 12 was discontinued in 1939 was renamed the Super 8 160. The 1938 16th Series 12 featured a 128 in. wheelbase, with heavier design fenders, the column shift was an option, and the shape would continued to be used for the 1939 17th Series.
