No writing tears or marks. 63 b/w photographs illustrate the text. The dj is very tattered. large chip missing bottom third of spine, chips at corners, soiled. Now protected with Brodart jacket. Book measures 10" x 7.5". Dustjacket is beautifully illustrated showing a girl jumping a pony with smaller drawings of other interactions with the horse. Some wear, 1" missing bottom of spine, some soiling particularly back of dj that advertises other sporting books from the publisher. Overall a nice copy, scarce in dustjacket. 62 pages with many full page black and white photos. Author known for his book on riding instruction, addresses the subject for children by showing a young girl's evolution in horsemanship.Each chapter contains a practical hint of horsemanship. Back flap lists 7 other Lenski titles ending with Surprise for Davy. Since some of the titles in the lists were later than 1951, it appears the book is a first edition, but the dustjacket is from a later printing..
