Amsterdam, 1973 - 1974. Size: 21,5 x 27,5 cm. 17; 23; 22, 10 pp. Illustrated in b/w. Stencilled. Stapled.This short-lived radical feminist magazine was published from 1972 to 1974. Only six issues saw the light of day. It is an important source for the history of feminism and gender studies. Copies are extremely rare and complete sets impossible to find. I have only found three complete sets in libraries, all in Amsterdam. Paarse September conisted of four women who became soon famous for claiming in the first issue of their magazine that feminists that stayed heterosexual were not real feminists and could even be considered anti-feminists. Their motto was "Being lesbian is a political choice" (Lesbisch zijn is een politieke keuze). After six issues Paarse September stopped in 1974 because they thought their ideas were well known by then.

This is number 79.Paste paper is a kind of decorated paper that was made by the craftsman for the workshop and has been an everyday thing for centuries, generally unnoticed by science and scientists. This book gives background knowledge and experience from the workshop. It is a contribution to the old craft of making decorated paper and it is about delighting in colours, forms and simple methods.

Titlepage within woodcut border, 12 woodcut plates by Gramme and 12 small woodcut vignettes for each month. In an emboidered binding of beige satin, with on the covers a broad baroque frame in high relief of gold thread with embroidered flowers in the centre. Flat spine embroidered with gold thread and pailettes in a wavy line. On the front cover a red flower and a yellow on the back cover. Chintz paste downs, Edges gilt. (gold a bit oxidIsed, embroidered flowers a bit stained; else in a perfect condition).This is the only copy of this almanach we could trace for this year (1741). All the years of this almanach are extremely rare according to KvK and Worldcat, where only 3 years are present. No place, no date but from a collective work as the page numbering of the play runs from 413 - 530 and pages 531 - 560 contain a preface and notes by Voltaire on this play. 2 - (MOZART) Don Juan. All four pieces bounded together in late nineteenth century half cloth with marbled boards. Some foxing throughout. Silk playbill nice and clean.

Engraved ornamental frontispiece, title-page, engraved portrait of Johan Enschedé, engraving of statue of Coster, engraving of statue of Hadrianus Junius, 16 ff of introduction; 75 ff of typespecimens; engraving of another statue of Coster, 4 ff of typespecimens (= the supplement Oud Hollandse letteren), 8 pp list of prices, folding view of Enschedé's foundry (lower margin of one fold a bit torn, not affecting the engraving). Canon Hebreeuwsch not present (but missing in most known copies). Apart from some staining to 4 ff. a good clean copy in contemporary mottled calf binding with goldstamped decorative border on the front and back covers and spine with 5 raised bands goldtooled. Red leather title vignette that says: "letterproef". Marbled edges. Without the portait of Fleischmann that was added later. Name "Jan van Krimpen" in pencil on the verso of the titlepage. No place, no date (but circa 1990). Large sample book (c. 35 x 35 cm) containing 14 large folded sheets of different Japanese handmade papers and in different sizes. Bound in a Japanese style binding of natural japanese silk over heavy boards, green silk ribbons. Leather title label on spine & leather title label on the lower corner of the front cover. Inserted in a pocket on the inside front cover a little booklet in Dutch on the making of Japanese paper: De vervaardiging van Japans handpapier. Zutphen, 1985. Lovely illustrated in colour and bound in Japanese paper covered wrappers. Held in a custom-made box.A lovely, unique, sample book and a beautiful object.

Taken from the same publication, and also dated 1700 in pencil. pp. 192-200. Frederic de Rostgaard (Kraagerop 1671-1845) hasn't written much himself but contributed much to the world of books. He rescued several works from oblivion in European libraries. His Projet d'une nouvelle méthode pour dresser le catalogue d'un bibliothèque selon les matières was published in Paris in 1698. [c.f.
