Vellum grubby, spine label barely readable, diagonal closed tear to spine above the spine label, no front free endpaper, sound text block, both pastedowns have chips or tears, pages generally clean with some minor dampstaining mainly to the top edges of a dozen or so pages toward the middle, very old ink doodles on the final blank and lower margin below the colophon, minor finger soil. Parisiis - Paris: Barbou, Printed By Joannis-Baptistae Coignard, 1726. An impressive printing of Virgil's works with very wide margins, but effectively disbound. Old marbled boards with red spine, front cover off, spine covering about perished, (30), 860p., (53)p. Internally very clean with a couple of old, expert repairs to top margins, light colored dampstains affecting the last ten leaves or so of the index. There are a few (very few) other small margin chips and a few pages discolored from the long term storage of pressed flowers. Leaves 577/578, 683/684, 685/686 apparently never bound in. Engraved frontis, engraved map of the Mediterranean, entitled "Aenae Troiani Navigatio" before the Anaeid.
