This work reproduces the documents dealing with a serious diplomatic incident between France and Colombia in 1833. The problem arose when the French consul in Cartagena had a conflict with the local authorities when he tried to be present at the arrival of the remains of a British family who had been murdered in their hacienda. He was sent to prison and the incident was taken to the higher jurisdiction in Cartagena under the protest of the French representatives in Colombia. In this work, written in Spanish, Najera gives an extensive account of the influence of planets, and in particular the Sun and the Moon, on earthly climate changes: halfway between astronomy and astrology, the 'Summa' is in fact mainly conceived as a tool for weather and eclipse prediction and their effects on harvests.

Rafael Alberti (1902 – 1999) was a Spanish poet, a member of the Generation of '27. He is considered one of the greatest literary figures of the so-called Silver Age of Spanish Literature, and he won numerous prizes and awards. He died aged 96. After the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile because of his Marxist beliefs. On his return to Spain after the death of Franco, he was named Hijo Predilecto de Andalucía in 1983 and Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad de Cádiz in 1985.
María Teresa Leon, Alberti´s wife, (1903 – 13 December) was a Spanish writer, activist and cultural ambassador. Attempt to Assassinate Bolivar

A collection of documents relating to the trial of Francisco de Paula Santander who was accused of participating in the Conspiracy of September 25, 1828, to assassinate Simón Bolívar. Emissaries of Bolivar's opponents had stormed the Palace of San Carlos with the aim of killing the liberator who was at that time President. Bolívar escaped through a window, thanks to Manuelita Saenz, who protected Bolívar. After a trial, Santander who had been acting President of Gran Colombia between 1819-1826 and President of New Granada between 1832-1837, was accused of treason, and found guilty of the attack.
A copy of the sentence condemning Santander to death is included and also the message through which the Minister of War, José María Córdova, communicated Bolívar's decision to commute Santander's punishment to exile.
