Description:
C. Chapple, 1811. 5th. Hardcover. Good. This awesome antiquarian book from 1811 was written by one of the Victorian era's most interesting men, a prankster and jokester named Theodore Hook. He experimented with the insanity of crowds by pulling what were called practical jokes. He got 100s of people interested in non existent events and showed how easily folks could be manipulated. One of his public pranks created the first picture post card!!. That first card made fun of postal workers and he sent it to himself. The prank was on him, as the post office thought this was a good idea and people started selling and mailing post cards. HIs original postcard sold for more than $40,000 recently. This is the fifth printing/edition of a funny farce he wrote. UNCENSORED! The fifth edition contains a lurid scene that was censored in previous editions. The hardboards which are 1/4 leather has worn leather spine area and corners. What's BEAUTIFUL is the hardboards and endpapers which look like wild red… Read More

Morris Publishing, 2012. 2nd. Paperback. New. 0x0x0. Brand new books from the publisher. This is the story of an Italian immigrant kid from the hardscrabble SF Bay neighborhood of Port Chicago. His dad died in an industrial accident there when he was a small kid. Port Chicago is famous for being the site of an industrial accident that killed 320 sailors and civilian workers during WWII. Dan, who wrote this book with John Estes of Mendocino, became an awesome football player at Mt Diablo High and San Jose State before joining the San Francisco 49ers, where he was known as one of the toughest and most physical defensive ends in the league for his 8 years. His story goes way beyond football to a life made good through the joys of sport, family and California home. He died in 2014.We sell on every book site out there but offer (INCLUDED IN THE PRICE YOU SEE) a 30 percent discount on Biblio because Biblio offers most sophisticated and best bookselling site, with the fewest errors in listings.
