Louis Heumann (1869-1918) was a German Catholic priest, a noted naturopath and founder of a successful German pharmaceutical company. Pastor Heumann, known as Heilmittelpfarrer or Cure Pastor was active in efforts to improve the lot of his rural parishioners. These efforts led to improvements in veterinary medicine,which in turn led to human medicines such as an ointment for leg ulcers and a series of other medications. He achieved his greatest success with this work, which first appeared in 1915, and is a skillful blend of medical education and advertising.
