Chinese Cultural Revolution propaganda pamphlet includes three articles exposing the former Secretary of CPC County Committee 齐发祥 [Qi Faxiang], his allies 李国祥 [Li Guoxiang] and 县委揭斗会 the [Revelation and Denunciation Meeting of County Committee]. 6 pp, stapled in one place, note in red ink upper cover, worming with loss on page 3 and page 4 and a little loss at edges, a working copy. Text in Chinese. Qi Faxiang and his allies were accused of being three-anti elements. It was claimed that Qi was the person who was responsible for the death of thousands in a political campaign. He was also accused of sabotaging the local People's Commune. The articles reveal that the 县委揭斗会 [Revelation and Denunciation Meeting of County Committee] are really those who are covering up for the capitalist roaders. .

Colour Chinese propaganda poster commemorating the great victory won against Japanese invaders during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The poster reproduces the Chinese ink painting by the Shandong Province born artist Chen Quansheng in 1977. It depicts an army nurse, wearing an armband of "Eighth Route Army" reading the latest war report to the women and children who are washing clothes by the creek. A block of handwritten text in calligraphy style printed upper left corner with the artist's name and chop states the painting is dedicated to commemorate the mutual effort made by soldiers and civilians at 沂蒙山革命根据地 "Mount Yimeng Revolutionary Base" during the war against Japan. Hangzhou.: 中國杭州都錦生絲織廠制. [Dujin Silk Factory]. No date. (circa1955).. Handcoloured silk jacquard panorama of the West Lake in Hangzhou. Measures 27.5 x 120cm. Lightly frayed at ends, a very good copy. Silk jacquard weavings such as these were very popular in China from the mid to late 20th century as tourist souvenirs. It appears likely that this particular example was woven in the 1950s as traditional Chinese characters have been used and the Dujin Silk Factory where it was made, changed its name to Dongfang Hongsi in 1966. The Dujin Silk Factory was well known in Hangzhou and beyond. It was originally established in 1922 and entered public-private joint management in the 1950s. Unfortunately it now no longer exists. .

This work is made up of 10 chapters which focuses on the Boxer Rebellion and Chinese Qing government's politics and foreign affairs. Volume I: 38 + 124 + 228 + 280pp. Volume II: 497 + 130pp. Rebound in modern cloth boards, titled in gilt on the spine. Upper wrapper with title and list of contents of both volumes laid down with some loss not affecting the text, 8 pages of volume 2 (p.123-130)are also laid down. Title of volume one gives the incorrect information of the volume number whereas on the spine the correct volume number is shown. Browned throughout, with occasional tears and minor loss. It lists major offices and their incumbents year by year. In 1961, he complied its sequel "Chronicle of Officials in the Newly-established Agencies in the Qing Dynasty" [清季新社職官年表] presenting information on the new government positions since the First Opium War. .

Chinese character for "one" at lower left apparently indicates more posters in this series. Small mark right edge, some light creases, very good. Sheet measures 78.6 x 26.8cm. The Double Tenth Day celebrates the Wuchang Uprising on October 10th 1911. The uprising took place in what is today the Wuchang district within Wuhan and brought about the end of the Qing Dynasty. This uprising was the first of a series of uprisings across China and by the end of 1911 there was really no doubt that the Qing Dynasty would fall.
