"A collaboration among artists," this work contains four essays by Dr. Lewis Thomas, each accompanied by a specially commissioned color etching by Joseph Goldyne, plus one additional etching, laid in, that "[pays] homage to the overall spirit of Dr. Thomas's writings." Introduction by Dr. Carl Djerassi. The volume was designed, handset, and letterpress printed by Wesley B. Tanner of the Arif Press. Description:
Poestenkill, NY: Edition Kaldewey, 1986. Lam, Bun-Ching. Triangular small quarto. (28)pp. From an edition of 50 copies, this is one of thirty regular. Signed by Bun-Ching Lam, whose six etchings render into visual art her original set of musical compositions that accompanied Beckett's poems. The etchings are in unusual shapes, and sometimes extend over the edge of the page; the text, which was Beckett's last book during his lifetime, appears in similarly unbounded and ungrounded settings. The project was the beginning of Lam and Kaldewey's personal relationship. The colophon states an edition of 70 total copies, but only thirty of the planned fifty regular copies were realized. Bound in gray paper over boards. A fine copy, housed in dropback box, somewhat rubbed. (von Lucius, pp. 168-171).

Description:
London: Heinemann, 1955. First edition. A novel written and set at the beginning of the American involvment in Vietnam, Greene explores how the ripples of naive patriotism and neoliberalism impact the global equilibrium. The novel proved a difficult sell in America, where its anti-American undertones were critically disparaged. It saw two film adaptations: one in 1958 that flipped the narrative to present the work as anti-communist; and the most recent in 2002 featuring Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser. Fine in dark blue cloth, and with dust wrapper that shows even toning to spine, and retains publisher's wrap-around band indicating its selection by the Book Society and Daily Mail Book of the Month.
