Description:
8vo, modern cloth in period style, spine labels, 395 pp. Rebound, ink library stamp and previous owner signature on title page, notation on page 17, some trimming, but not affecting text, moderate foxing; otherwise a very good copy. Timothy Flint (1780-1840) was born in Massachusetts, and was a pastor, missionary and author. He even managed to graduate from Harvard in 1800. After doing some missionary work around the Midwest, and even trying his hand at farming, he returned to Massachusetts in 1825 because of illness. He would publish this book in 1826, and go on to write several other works, including an excellent book on Daniel Boone. A note on page 17 indicates that Pittsburg has improved a good deal, since Flint's comments about the place were written. ANB. Howes F204. Sabin 24794.
