Contemporary half calf and marbled paper over boards, smooth back divided into six panels by black calf onlays, second panel lettered directly with title, panels one, four, and six with drawer handle style tools, and the remaining panels with small drawer handle tools and two palmettes, with small roundels and seed heads to head and tail. Rubbed to spine, especially to black onlays, and rubbed to extremities. Lightly browned internally, previous owner's name to head of ffep, with the armorial bookplate of Edward Thornbrough to front pastedown. Lacks half-title. ESTC T46435, suggesting that it is possibly by John Sudbury and Robert Griffith, with Hanson providing the date. Notes that sailors, sometimes after many years to sea, are often not paid what they are owed, leading them to sell their wages "at very great loss", which makes them incapable of paying his creditors, leading to tradesmen not being paid, and seamen deserting or entering into 'foreign service'. An incomplete run of The Red Mole (1970-1973), which developed out of the reincarnated Black Dwarf, then became Red Weekly, comprising the following issues - Vol. 1, No's 1-11 and 13; Vol. 2, No's 1, 2, 6, 8-12, No's 35, 37, 41, 43, 52-64 (ie. 37 issues of 65); WITH three broadsides. Generally in good condition with small nicks and tears and browning, 12pp up to number 52, when they become 8pp, the broadsides are [4]p. Volume 1, No.4 has a phone number to front cover and a tape stain to upper and lower cover, the later issues all have stab holes to gutter edge. The earlier issues have interesting covers, with one by Ralph Steadman and several by 'Till' (presumably Peter Till). The Red Mole was the newspaper of the International Marxist Group, British section of the Fourth International.
