No printing statement, probable first edition (the pictures are sparkling!), folio, illustrated paper-covered boards / rust linen spine, 59 pages, 12 full -page color illustrations. VERY GOOD- condition /no jacket: light rubbing to spine extremities, board edges and corners are just opening, light scratching and faint soiling to rear board, internally clean and tight throughout, all illustrations all present with four of them just starting to pull away from the hinge (though they look as though they were bound in this way), and one has a very tiny tear at the spine tail hinge. A very nice copy of this lovely Peat book.

Joan Hassall. 24mo, sewn wraps, 8 pages, design on front in green and black / white illustrations by Joan Hassall on each page. The story is taken from Chamber's Popular Rhymes of Scotland, and is here written in Scots dialect. Condition is VERY GOOD with a slight toning around edges of covers and a few faint stains to front cover. Hassall is known for her illustrations for the Folio Society edition of Jane Austen's novels.

A science-fiction story by one of the scientists who worked on the A-Bomb project, it tells of aliens visiting a post-apocalyptic earth. This was originally presented orally on March 27, 1949 during a University of Chicago Round Table of the Air program...it was delivered "off the air" and has only appeared in print in the original transcript of the program, not for general circulation. A scarce title.

Large 8vo, decorated cloth, red spine label, glassine wrapper (just a portion of the rear panel remains), slipcase, 333 pages, red top page edge, delightful color illustrations. Condition is NEAR FINE book in a VERY GOOD slipcase: book has no visible wear, faint toning to spine tail, clean and tight; the slipcase has some edgewear at top with a 2" split, light toning at fore-edge opening. A nice copy. The Rivals was first performed at the Covent Garden Theatre in 1775; School for Scandal was first performed at the Drury Lane Theatre in London in 1777.
