The first English edition did not appear until 1781.This work was compiled by Charles Regnier, and dedicated to Benjamin Franklin, who ordered the printing of the 1783 collection. Also, there is an early French translation of the U.S. Constitution included in the text.The use of the Philadelphia imprint, the city that signified America's own Revolution, conveyed a strong message of sympathy with American ideals.
