Description:
1907 first UK edition. An above average library copy. Bound in half leather and blue boards blindstamped by library. Although this has library paraphernalia the sturdy binding has protected the book and binding remains sound and handsome. I have scanned the front endpapers to show library issues. I also scanned the worst interior pages I could find - which are not so bad. Remainder of interior is quite readable with only occasional smudges and corner creases. Please see scans of the book you will receive.

Description:
First US edition, first printing, hardcover with dust jacket in archival cover. Volume is very good: with one blank in front and two in back this may be missing a front blank. The front blank has a bookplate and prior seller's notes. Dust jacket is price clipped, has some wear to edges, minor chips at spine ends. No other problems seen. This would make a pretty nice reading copy. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: In this somewhat atypical Forester novel the author explores the randomness of life. To which I say, amen.

Description:
First edition, first printing, hardcover. Very good or better. Prior owner's stamp in front; bookseller's stamp in rear; all else excellent. Before America entered WW1 Germany made a concerted propaganda effort to persuade the citizens of the United States to join Germany or at least stay out of the conflict. To this end Germany published a pamphlet titled "The Truth About Germany" (published by Trow, undated). Some Americans took offense and wrote responses. This book is one of them. Another is "One American's Opinion of the European War" by Frederick Whitridge, 1914 (also listed). A few years ago books of these sort were interesting propaganda artifacts. Today they remind us that propaganda appeals to Americans by hostile foreign governments are nothing new. History tells all. Please see scans of the book you will receive.

Description:
First House edition of this famous report. 1845. Complete in original binding except for the gigantic map which is available in full size color thick glossy paper professional reproduction ($25 extra if desired). Pagination: 583 pages, 22 plates, 4 maps, all blanks present. Includes fascinating pencil diagram of oil rig on back of map. Oil rig drawing titled "Sheffield Oil Company. Warren(?), Co., Pa." That pencil drawing is the only interior writing or ownership marking anywhere in the book. Condition is a mixed bag. Original half leather marbled boards show heavy wear and looks like they were professionally rehinged in the distant past. Binding is sound. Pages show moderate to heavy toning and foxing. Some plates have weird 'dot' foxing I have never seen elsewhere (see scan). Marbled endpapers. A nice well maintained copy suitable for reading and research with a cool drawing. Howes F372; Wagner-Camp 115:2; Graff 1436. House Doc. No. 166. Feel free to inquire. Please see scans of the book you will… Read More

Description:
A very nice copy of Sitgreaves Report. 1853. Senate Exec. Doc. 59. All 79 plates are present and the map is professionally reproduced in full size (27 x 47 inches) and placed in rear pocket. Howes S528; Wagner-Camp 230:1; Graff 3809. A note on collation: it is difficult. It helps to have reference materials and more than one copy. I have both and can guarantee this collates complete. Only condition issue is moderate to heavy foxing in places. That is a common problem with this volume. No prior ownership markings, stamps, or vandalism. In a beautiful modern quarter leather and marbled boards fine binding by Starr Bookworks. A very nice example of this work in fine binding and high quality full size facsimile map to complete the work. Please see scans of the book you will receive.

Description:
First US edition, first printing, hardcover with dust jacket in archival cover. Condition of the book is Fine: prior bookseller discreet pencil note on ffep, and that is about it. Dust jacket is Near Fine: slight wrinkling at spine tips, light scuffs along spine, no other issues. This is one of the best books by this author. Everything clicks. Fans of Burdett and Hallinan will find to much to appreciate. A collectible book in like condition. Notes: Bibliographically challenging author. I have prepared a 26 title list of first appearances for those who are interested. This book was actually issued in US in 2008 contrary to all info seen elsewhere. See copyright page: 08 date is on same line as printings.
