Originally built as a passenger/cargo ship for the Emergency Fleet Corporation and launched in 1921 as the Pine Tree State, later operated as the SS President Grant with the Dollar Steamship line, and later as the USS Harris (APA-2) transport during World War II. First edition of this very scarce silk sample catalogue filled with an entire colour spectrum of 65% Bemberg Rayon with 35% 2-ply Douppioni silk blends intended for interior design uses in upholstery and drapery fabrics. The wonderfully creative catalogue can also be hung from the rivet on the upper flap, creating a display of all the fabrics, or it can be set up accordion-style as a counter display.
