Raphael Tuck & Sons, Ltd., [1941]. The historic secret Atlantic Conference was held between August 9th and 12th, 1941 on a warship anchored in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. At that momentous meeting, the two leaders and their military aides agreed upon critical policies for the conduct of a joint war against Germany, even though the U.S. was still officially neutral and would remain so until December 8. The meetings culminated in the Atlantic Charter, a declaration of principles issued a few days after the conference. Often compared to Wilson's Fourteen Points, the Charter also laid the foundation for the United Nations Declaration, signed by 26 nations in January 1942.

The first best-seller in Charteris' Saint series, and the book that established him as a literary celebrity in American and the United Kingdom, The Saint in New York was first published in the United Kingdom by Hodder and Stoughton in 1935. The 15th book chronicling the adventures of Simon Templar (alias The Saint), an anti-hero character patterned after Robin Hood, the book is considered the most popular Saint volume. The book as adapted into the film of the same name in 1938, produced by William Sistrom and starring Louis Hayward as Simon Templar.

Octavo, original cloth, illustrated with over eighty illustrations by Rockwell Kent. Very good in a good dust jacket. Ownership inscription. Salamina, the story of his years in Greenland, is Rockwell Kent's longest and richest book. Probably Kent's best painting has been done in Greenland; for he found it an ideal place to work. The setting was amazingly beautiful; the native people became his close friends and welcomed him, unreservedly, into the community life. His story of his years there is a true chronicle of may curious and romantic happenings, and a narrative which, in style and in richly varied content, reflects perfectly the remote and beautiful world of North Greenland.

English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist Rudyard Kipling's major works include The Jungle Book (1894), Kim (1901) and many short stories and poems. Kipling was born in India, which inspired much of his work and his innovative stories for children have become timeless classics. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in the British Empire, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 1907.

He has worked with multi-media collages, manipulating the wet dyes in Polaroid photographic film to create what he calls "Photo-Transformations". Likewise, Samaras constructed rooms that contained elements from his own personal history, and he described his "Auto-Interviews" as "self-investigatory" interviews in the form of text works.
