The Short Reign of Pippin the Short A Fabrication by John Steinbeck (author of Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, and Cannery Row) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Viking 1957. Fine- in Near Fine- price-clipped Dustjacket. A really nice copy of one Steinbeck's more humorous offerings. Book itself is just about as close to fine as you could desire, corners straight, inner pages clean, spine lettering very bold, very slight toning to pages edges which is to be expected. The dust jacket is in really nice shape, very bright at the front, price-clipped and slight chip to lower rear corner, very slight fading to spine, and typical fraying to lower spine edge, else essentially all there. A very nice smart copy. NOTE: This is NOT the book club edition. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers. ALSO: The picture is the actual item for sale. Songs of a Dead Dreamer

Thomas Ligotti

  • Edition: first hardcover edition
  • Book condition: Fine
  • Quantity available: 1
Songs of a Dead Dreamer by Thomas Ligotti First Hardcover Edition - First Printing Carroll and Graf 1989 (true first edition was a limited issue trade paperback published Silver Scarab Press, 1985 and later published by Subterranean Press in a hardcover limited edition). Fine in Very Good+ Dust Jacket. The book is perfect and appears unread. The dust jacket is mainly clean on the front, but has some pealing to the back and tape on four words of the second paragraph blurb. (I couldn't remove it without removing the letters so I left it intact.) Still overall a nice copy I'm selling for about half of normal because of the back of the dust jacket. Sunset Pass by Zane Grey (author of Westerns, notably for shaping how the genre would develop and be popularized in the 20th century, notably his book Riders of the Purple Sage) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing New York: Harper & Brothers, 1931. First edition stated with the appropriate printing code K-F which indicates November, 1931 (According to Harper & Brothers printing codes, K=November, and F=1931.) $2.00 cover price on the front dust jacket flap. NOTE: (This is NOT the later Grosset & Dunlap edition which would not be a true first edition even though some sellers are characterizing such as copies as being firsts.) Made into a Hollywood film in 1933 starring Randolph Scott and directed by Henry Hathaway. Fine in Very Good+ Dust Jacket. A beautiful copy overall, the book itself is essentially fine, corners straight, pages clean. The main shortcoming of the dust jacket is a half-dime size chip to the upper front and fraying to the upper and lower spine, but overall it's much nicer and cleaner tha ... Read more

First UK trade copy of the first Shannara book! Probably much more rare than the US edition. NOT ex-lib and NOT bc. The Sword of Shannara (first book of the Shannara series) by Terry Brooks Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Random House US/Raven UK 1977 £6.95 cover price on the dust jacket. States "First Edition" on the copyright page underneath the number-line beginning with "2". (Note: This was Random House's convention for identifying first printings until circa 2000: "First Edition" with the printing number-line beginning with "2". Their printing number-lines never began with "1" until 2000. If the number-line begins with "2" but the indication of "First Edition" is lacking then it's a second printing.) I notice some near fine copies are priced at $1000+. NOTE on edition: It appears that the book itself was printed by Random House in the US and Raven UK simply added their own dust jacket with a £6.95 cover price for distribution in the UK. The dust jacket front art is identical to the US edition ... Read more
